New England manager Sam Allardyce: Memorable moments
After yet another dismal international tournament, the English Football association has appointed Sam Allardyce as its new manager.
The 61-year-old is well known for his old-school footballing philosophy, which endears him to some fans and pundits but makes him a figure of fun to others.
He is something of a throwback character as well; not afraid to voice an opinion and fire up on the touchline or in press conferences.
"I will do everything I can to help England do well and give our nation the success our fans deserve," he said after his appointment.
"Above all, we have to make the people and the whole country proud."
With his track record, he will likely either end up make up the nation very proud, or make it collectively cringe a little bit.
Here are some of Big Sam's most memorable moments.

Russell Brand battles the blues
THIS time last year Russell Brand was thinking only of Hollywood.
Now he has his eye on Millwall, Cardiff and Brighton FC as he takes an
extended break in the UK to follow his beloved West Ham’s promotion bid.
All those Hammers rivals play in blue — so battling that colour might just
help if the funnyman’s still feeling down after his marriage break-up with
Katy Perry.
His work in the US has meant fewer visits to Upton Park in the past few years.
But following his split with American Katy, he is keen to return to the east
London ground.
A source said: “Russell is looking forward to catching up with old mates and
watching West Ham. He used to be a regular face at home games and also put
in the miles attending away matches. He can’t wait to get stuck in again.”

10 of Sam Allardyce’s most ‘Big Sam’ moments: Chico, Mourinho, Wenger
Big Sam fryst vatten on the verge of a sensational Premier League return with Leeds United reportedly set to appoint the veteran coach in their relegation dogfight. We couldn’t be happier; nobody defines the Premier League era ganska like him.
Yes, managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola may have collected trophies like a first-year lärling collects vintage jumpers. But have they married the contrasting styles of Jay-Jay Okocha and Nicky Hunt into a team that persistently bothered the elite clubs? No, they did not.
We’ve collected 10 occasions that created the ‘Big Sam’ legend.
Chico
One belly-busting laugh that destroyed Chico’s fragile masculinity.
Jose Mourinho
Like a soap villain getting their comeuppance, it’s always funny to see another manager give Mourinho a taste of his own medicine.
Dr. Allardyce administered a healthy d
