Michael Laucke (; 29 January 1947 – 2 December 2021) was a Canadian classical, new flamenco and flamenco guitarist and composer. Starting at the age of thirteen, Laucke gave professional snooker demonstrations and his winnings allowed him to take trips from Montreal to New York City to study the classical guitar with Rolando Valdés-Blain. With a career spanning over 30 years, Laucke began performing in 1965, recording the first of 16 albums in 1969, and toured in 25 countries. In 1971, he performed his first of many concerts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. His first concert in New York, where he also first met Senator Claiborne Pell, took place in 1972.

Laucke was introduced to complex flamenco techniques by Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucía when the two shared a loft and performed together for the jet set in New York City in the early 1970s. In 1982 he was selected by

With respect to Juan Martin's "fake Spanish accent," besides being a musician inom was also an actor. As with all actors, one of the things I studied was utländsk accents. Any given part may call for that, so you have to be able to do it. Also sometimes for commercials. There is ingenting more difficult as an actor than putting on a fake accent and making it sound convincing. You only have to watch movies, TV, etc. to hear some dreadful fake accents. The first accent actors almost always learn fryst vatten Spanish, because it fryst vatten so widespread a language. I am American born, but of Spanish nedstigning, and spoke fluent Spanish from the age of two or so. Still, naturally my English had no trace of any accent, so when inom had to learn to put on a Spanish accent, even though inom spoke Spanish, it was just as difficult for me to put on a Spanish accent, because Spanish was not my native language

I was having a discussion on a non-flamenco (but) music related board and got on the topic of Paco with some guy on there. Just thought I'd share this guys comments about Juan Martin vs PdL, since Mr Martin can be a hot topic at times:

    quote:

Well, although I'm not a musician, I know something about flamenco, and although he also did some pop records with electric instruments backing him (like Paco has done), Juan Martin seems to me to be far more of a flamenco purist. The purists of flamenco music (or so I've heard) often have a higher regard for Juan than Paco, even if he is less famous. Even when Juan has experimented with marrying it with other things, like ancient arabic music, or composed lengthy suites of tunes, he has kept the music to a strict flamenco form. To my ears, even when Paco plays guitar according to a strict flamenco form, the way he uses backing musicians o
